Renowned Norwegian sax player-composer Marius Neset and pianist-educator Leif Ove Andsnes grew up in small towns near Bergen. They chose different musical careers, focusing on stylistic models in their expressive idioms. The Oslo-based Neset focuses on jazz, leads his bands and collaborated with the Trondheim Jazz Orchestra, the Danish Radio Big Band and the London Sinfonietta while the Bergen-based Andsnes is one of the leading classical pianists in the world, founded the annual Rosendal Chamber Music Festival and is the Artistic Adviser at Bergen’s Prof. Jirí Hlinka Piano Academy.
