I Smile When the Sound Is Singing Through the Space (Editions, 2024) brings together Taiwanese experimental vocal artist, sound improviser and art therapist Alice Hui-Sheng with prolific American, Zürich-based experimental vocalist, sound artist, electronics player, guitarist, percussionist and writer Jason Kahn. This is the second album of this duo, following Voices (Pan Y Rosas Discos, 2016). It was recorded at Ting Shuo Hear Say in Hui-Sheng’s hometown, Tainan, in Taiwan in September 2023, during Kahn’s one-month artist residency at the art organization, co-founded by Hui-Sheng, and focusing on listening, arts and discursive education with sound at
