German revolutionary artist Kurt Schwitters (1887-1948) is known today for his periodical editions of Merz paintings and his Dadaist sound poetry. His famous poetic work, Ursonate (Original sonata), was performed by Dutch vocal artist Jaap Blonk (BV Haast, 1986) and by German actor Eberhard Blum (hat ART, 1992).

Italian-Swedish, Berlin-based vocalist Anna Clementi, who thinks of herself as an “actress of the voice” and is known for performing John Cage’s works, encountered Schwitters’ work one day in 2011.
