Italian, Berlin-based experimental cellist-composer-educator Martina Bertoni explores the curious instrument Halldorophone, originally designed by Halldór Úlfarsson in 2008, as an algorithmic system to examine tunings and the mathematical relationships between harmonic frequencies, in her most radical album to date Electroacoustic Works for Halldorophone. Bertoni recorded material for the album during a residency at Stockholm’s legendary Elektronmusikstudion (EMS) in November 2023, and later composed and arranged it in her home in Berlin.
