Tournures Cessent / Tournures Cessent Orchestrales offers two extended, intriguing variations of a composition by French alto sax player-sound artist-conceptual composer Jean-Luc Guionnet, composed, recorded and mastered between 2016 and 2020, in memory of recording engineer François Lagarde. The front cover drawing is by Guionnet and informs the enigmatic spirit of these compositions.

The first one is the electroacoustic “Tournures Cessent”, commissioned by INA GRM (Groupe de recherches musicales) for its Présences électroniques festival in 2016. This intimate, reductionist sound art composition processes the synthesized voice of Christophe Macé, and a brief melodic theme played on piano and by violist Cyprien Busolini. Guionnet describes
