Alberto Novello & Rob Mazurek – Sun Eaters

Italian, Trieste-based modular synth and light wizard Alberto Novello (a.k.a. JesterN) repurposes found or decontextualised analog devices to investigate the connections between light and sound in the form of contemplative installations and performances, in what he calls weapons of visual mass distraction. American, prolific Chicagoan trumpeter-composer-multi-media artist Rob Mazurek needs no introduction, but on his recent releases he has developed his interest with the timbres of modular synths (check Music for Piano and Modular Synthesizer, Ansible Editions, 2023, and Nestor’s Nest, Keroxen, 2025).

Novello and Mazurek’s debut duo project was born of a chance encounter, and documents their first-ever recorded meeting, Sun Eaters (a title that corresponds with the Mayan description of eclipses). It
