During the 2023 edition of the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, Danish drummer Kresten Osgood curated the I/O series and invited a few of the first generation of female free improviers, including British vocal artist Maggie Nicols, American violinist LaDonna Smith and French double master Joëlle Léandre. The performances of this series happened at 11 am each day, a time slot normally reserved for New Orleans parades, or the time of the festival jazz performance for children.
