Paulownia is an experimental, all-female zither trio formed at New England Conservatory in Boston in 2021, and featuring Korean Yoona Kim playing the traditional Korean ajaeng, Chinese Anwei Wang playing the traditional guzheng and Marie Carroll playing the traditional Japanese Koto. The trio explores free improvisation, electroacoustics, noise, and tradition. The self-titled album is the debut album of this trio of young and fearless composers-improvisers.
