Belgian pianist-photographer (and bassist and mindfulness trailer) Martina Verhoeven began her career as a free improviser only seven years ago, most of the time joining the projects of her partner, prolific Belgian guitarist Dirk Serries, who expanded in the last fifteen years his cosmic ambient and drone sonic palette to free improvisation and avant-garde. On July 2023, London’s Café OTO gave Verhoeven a carte blanche to invite her kindred spirits and collaborative musicians and host an afternoon of free improv event, without borders, rules, and/or commitments, with the theme: Free is The Space.
