Aunes is the new solo album of the Australian, Berlin-based experimental cellist-composer-improviser Judith Hamann, featuring six suggestive and intimate collage-like songs that mark her most personal work to date. She envelopes her cello, with its extended techniques, by layers of synths, organ, wordless vocalization (for the first time), and field recordings. The title of the album is borrowed from an old French unit of measurement for fabric, varying around the country and from material to material, but the measure could not be separated from the material.
