Otomo Yoshihide/Emilie Škrijelj/Tom Malmendier – Weird Morning Meeting

The rare configuration of two turntablists and one drummer is rare, but Japanese turntablist (and guitarist) Otomo Yoshihide, French turntablist (and accordionist and electronics player) Emilie Škrijelj, and her Belgian partner-drummer Tom Malmendier are no ordinary musicians. These prolific, restless, and adventurous improvisers always search for new sonic frontiers, blending ideas from free jazz, free improvisations, spoken word, Musique concrète, and noise.

Yoshihide is busy today presenting his homage to pioneer turntablist Christian Marclay, leading his Special Big Band and performing with his New Jazz Quintet (ONJQ) and with young experimental guitarist Loui Yoshigaki (son of the ONJQ’s drummer, Yasuhiro Yoshigaki).
